Narrate Your Life

Narrating your life.

Desribe things that you see around you (in your head of course... only do this out loud if you are by yourself or with someone who knows you are not crazy 😆 )

Examples:

dog, brown, fluffy, running, train, loud

YOu could do this while going about your daily business, but you could also do this in a sort of meditative state, where this is the only thing you focus on, e.g. look at a picture and desribe it.

Going to museums with your target language is a good extension of this idea because you will read information in your target language, and you can also desribe the stuff (to the best of your ability)

Some questions/things to experiment:

  • Complete Sentences vs just isolated words
    • Probably depends on the goal for the day.
  • How much variety to use per session?
  • How often should the words and concepts be rotated?
  • How long (in seconds) to stay on a word? (Should you look up the word, or just move on to the next?)
    • Maybe you could "remember" the word by going through associations, such as what people do when they are trying to remember something specific in a movie or tv show
      • E.g. That seinfeld episode where they say "and they're the ones writing it off.." what was that conversation in reference to... so Jerry said, "YOu dont even know what a write off is, do you?"... big companies do this... yea it was the postal service and this was when Kramer insured Jerry's broken stereo so that the mail service would pay for the "damages"
